Shelly is a city in Norman County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 179 at the 2020 census.
Shelly was platted in 1896, and named for John Shely, an early settler. The spelling of “Shelly” was adopted to distinguish the city from the already existing Shely Township. A post office has been in operation at Shelly since 1896.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.21 square miles (0.54 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2020, there were 179 people and 56 households in the city. The population density was 852.4 inhabitants per square mile. There were a total of 105 housing units at an average density of 500.0 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was majority white, with six residents reporting being Hispanic or Latino of any race, or 3.3% of the total population.
The city boast an employment rate of 61.9% with the median household income being $54,375.
